Sump Pump Installation Can Be Easy

When you decide to do your own Sump Pump Installation you will need good instructions and maybe a representative of the company you bought your pump from ready to give you advice.  Picking out the right sump pump will be a matter of knowing all the different types.  There are submersible pumps and sewage ejector pumps and submersible pumps for irrigation.  Some of the pumps also use solar power that make them very energy efficient to operate.  When your basement is wet you know you need a pump that can be counted on to work when you need it and a backup system that is battery operated in case the power goes off.

The Hydromatic 224 System carries a sewage ejector pump with basin package that is easy to install.  It comes with structural foam, basin with cover and sealing kit.  Be sure to follow all the instructions for Sump Pump Installation.  Because the pit where the sump pump will be installed will be wet be sure to unplug everything from the power source.  Be sure to know all your local electrical and building codes before installing a pump.  Clean the debris from the pit and set pump in center of pit.

After deciding where you want the sump pump to discharge the water (it could be a drainage system or dry well, splash block or storm drain) connect the discharge piping and run it to the nearest sewer or outlet.  The discharge pipe should  be the same diameter as the discharge size to reduce pipe friction losses.  Unless the manufacturers instructions say to do so, do not oil the motor.  Use of other oil could cause serious electric shock and damage to the pump.  Follow the Sump Pump Installation exactly as written otherwise it could void the warranty and the guarantee.

Always remember due to power outages and line blockage a backup system and alarm should be used.  Most sump pumps are supplied with a grounding conductor and a grounding-type attachment plug.  Be sure your pump is grounded properly.  If you have any problems with this check the Sump Pump Installation or call a qualified licensed electrician.  Tape the pump and switch cords to the discharge line with electrician's tape for protection.  Be sure to test the pump after all connections have been made.  Run water into the sump.  Never operate pump without water this will damage the seals and bearings.
